After completing his secondary and high school education at Istanbul Erkek Lisesi (teaching in German), Varol graduated from Bogaziçi University Faculty of Administrative Sciences Department of Accounting and Finance. Bogazici is an ex-American university with English as the teaching language.
Following his international banking experience at Yapı Kredi Bank, one of the biggest private banks in Turkey, he became auditor at Price Waterhouse Coopers, continued his career as an internal auditor in Sabanci Holding, Turkey’s second biggest industrial and finance conglomerate.
At executive managerial level, he became the financial controller of Wella; Germany-based international hair cosmetics group, Tenneco Automotive; US-based international automotive supplier and Retro Textile and Eroglu Group of Companies (in Germany).
Before he founded Nova Scola, Karslioglu has been in the tourism industry and co-manager of Academy Travel Service for five years and holds a CTM (Certified Travel Manager) license.
Varol is also an automobile enthusiast, has been writing for the automobile sector nearly two decades. He is the owner-blogger at www.autoandroad.com and columnist at TAYSAD (www.taysad.org.tr; Turkish Association of Vehicles Manufacturers Association) magazine.
He also volunteers as the Vice President of the Ankara Library of Toronto, a culture and literature endowment and member of management board at TEPAC (www.turkishbusiness.ca; Turkish Entrepreneurs and Professionals’ Association of Canada).
He emigrated to Canada in 2005 and is a Canadian citizen.
Karslioglu lives in Burlington, Ontario with his family. He Speaks Turkish as native, English and German fluently and French at intermediate level.
Şehnaz AgdukDirector of Academy Travels
Şehnaz is the Director and the founding partner of Academy Travels and also Consultant at Nova Scola. She started her own company in 2010 in Canada. She has 17 years of experience in European, Eastern Mediterranean and North American tour operations. She possesses strong product and industry knowledge with extensive experience in designing, planning, selling, and operating various tours including Holy Land trips, trekking, mountaineering, mountain biking, motion picture and documentary film productions, charter and hotel-based sightseeing trips for Turkey, Greece, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Syria as well as other countries in Europe.
Academy Travel Service is the strategic partner of Nova Scola and both companies work closely together in organizing summer camps and other educational projects.
Michael VourakesEducation Consultant
Michael Vourakes is the President of PRACADEMICA. He is a lifelong learner and passionate believer in education and training for all. He has spent many years in the education, hospitality fields.
As of July 2013, he was the Dean, Business at Centennial College, Toronto, Ontario after serving as Chair, Business and Management Studies at Centennial College between May 2009 and Sept 2011.
Michael has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Wayne State University and an Honours Degree in Commerce (B.Comm.) from the University of Windsor.
From 1998 to 2005, Michael worked at St. Clair College where he started as Chair, Hospitality and Tourism, then advanced to Dean, Business and Technology and was later promoted to the senior management team as Vice President, Innovation and Business Development. In 2004, Michael was appointed Vice President, Academic reporting to the President.
His responsibilities included: developing, implementing and monitoring the College’s strategic plan; overseeing the 80 full time programs and new program development contributing to the College’s continued growth, student/ employer satisfaction and financial viability. Michael was responsible for a budget in excess of $30 million, and a sector consisting of over 400 faculty, support staff and administrators.
Michael has instructed courses at the Faculty of Business Administration, University of Windsor, Centennial College and at St. Clair College. He believes in service excellence and has taught leadership and entrepreneurial courses to individuals aspiring to improve their skills.
Michael also served on the Board of Governors at St. Clair College and in 1992 was awarded the Excellence in Education Award and the Ambassador of Tourism Award in 1984. He was the recipient (2011) of the President’s Spirit Award for his work on the Research Ethics Board at Centennial College.
In 2013, he was awarded the President’s Award for Innovation for the Business Capstone course he co-developed and taught.
Michael is a true global citizen and is honoured to serve his many current and former students.

Haldun ÖzbakTurkey Representative
After completing his secondary and high school education in Diyarbakır, Turkey Haldun graduated from Anadolu University-Faculty of Administrative Sciences- Department of Economics.
After a decade of domestic and international banking experience, he pursued his career in the finance sector and served as general manager in leasing and factoring sector for 20 years. Throughout his professional experience of more than three decades, he participated at several domestic and international presentations and seminars as speaker.
In 2015, at BÜYEM Academy of Social Sciences program at the Boğaziçi University of Istanbul. he received his graduation certificate for courses in history, sociology, psychology and philosophy.
In 2008, he got an advanced sailing training at the Istanbul Sailing Club and earned an amateur maritime certificate. His passion and love for the sea and sailing remains.
He lives in Istanbul with his family. He speaks English.
